Overview
ClearWeb is a Chrome extension for blocking ads, trackers, popups, and other unwanted page elements. ClearWeb does not sell browsing data, browsing history, license data, or extension activity, and does not use that information for personalized advertising.
Information handled by the extension
Most ClearWeb activity happens locally in your browser. The extension uses Chrome APIs and locally packaged filter rules to evaluate network requests, hide unwanted page elements, maintain allowlists and custom blocklists, store settings, show block statistics, and remember Pro license state.
The extension stores settings, allowlists, custom rules, block statistics, saved account email, license key, license status, selected theme, and Pro feature settings with the browser's local storage API. This local extension data remains on your device unless you remove it, reset settings, uninstall the extension, or choose to export it for support.
Information sent to ClearWeb services
If you enter or check a ClearWeb Pro license key, the extension contacts the ClearWeb license backend over HTTPS to verify access. That request may include the license key, saved account email, extension version, and operational request metadata needed to return the license status and protect the service from abuse.
If you use the account or billing pages on this website, those pages may send the email address and license key you provide to the ClearWeb backend so your license can be checked or a Stripe billing portal session can be opened.
The ClearWeb website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate website traffic, page usage, and referral sources. ClearWeb uses this information to improve the website and product funnel. Google Analytics may process page URL, browser and device information, approximate location, referral source, and related usage metadata according to Google's terms and privacy controls.
Payments, license records, and email
Payment details are handled by Stripe. ClearWeb does not receive or store full card numbers. To provide Pro access, ClearWeb stores account and license records such as email address, Stripe customer ID, Stripe subscription ID, Stripe checkout session ID, plan, status, license key, created date, and renewal or expiration date.
ClearWeb uses Supabase to store account, license, and operational records, Resend to send license emails, Stripe to process payments and billing portal access, and Vercel to host the website and backend. These providers process data only as needed to provide ClearWeb, maintain the service, process payments, deliver license emails, support users, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
Support and troubleshooting data
Support exports are user-initiated. If you download troubleshooting data or email support, ClearWeb receives only the information you choose to provide. Troubleshooting data may include extension settings, enabled rulesets, allowlist entries, custom rules, and local performance snapshot details from your browser configuration.
Sharing and limited use
ClearWeb shares user data only with service providers needed to operate the extension and website, comply with law, prevent abuse, resolve security issues, or complete a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition. ClearWeb does not transfer user data to advertising platforms or data brokers.
ClearWeb's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Retention and deletion
Local extension data remains in your browser until you clear it, reset settings, or uninstall the extension. Pro account and license records are retained while needed to provide access, manage billing, keep business records, prevent fraud or abuse, provide support, and meet legal obligations. You can request deletion or correction of account and license records by contacting ClearWeb.
Security
ClearWeb uses HTTPS for website, license, billing, and payment-related requests. Do not email payment card numbers or passwords to ClearWeb support.
